Poynton Town Mayor, Sarah-Jane Gilmore, attended Cheshire’s Best Kept Stations Award Ceremony on Tuesday 23rd January.
She was delighted to accept the Award for Cheshire Best Staffed Station on behalf of Poynton, and then to present the award to Station Master Glyn Derbyshire along with Pam Williams from Northern Rail.
The nomination said: ‘The staffed booking office is clean & tidy with a display of old station name boards and passengers are dealt with by a pleasant & knowledgeable member of staff. A great collection of railway memorabilia, smart gardens and a pleasant waiting room add to the period atmosphere. The winner of Best Staffed Station in the Cheshire Best Kept Station Awards is ….
