Students from Poynton High School who are taking part in their Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and Enrichment Programme are meeting with residents of Hope Green Care Home to lead a program of social activities, including arts and crafts, board games, sharing photographs, nail painting and of course a competitive game of Bingo or two. One student even gave an impromptu piano performance which encouraged a resident to have a tinkle on the ivories too! Ellie, Ellie and Lucy are doing their Year 12 Enrichment programme and Olivia and Katie are doing their Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. All are having an enjoyable time connecting with residents and one student said “Volunteering at Hope Green and doing activities with the residents is very rewarding. The residents are great fun and we enjoy chatting with them and sharing stories”.
