Poynton’s Community First Responders (CFRs) are a small team of volunteers who support North West Ambulance Service and front line ambulances to respond to local emergency calls, providing life-saving first aid to local people in those vital minutes before an ambulance arrives. This often makes all the difference.

The team are looking for more volunteers. The CFR role is very rewarding and doesn’t require any previous experience. All the training needed will be provided and there’s plenty of flexibility, as you can be on-call from a home or work address, and from as little as 5 hours per week.

Poynton’s Community First Responders are also working with Poynton’s AED group and Town Council to deliver AED training sessions for residents at community venues.

The volunteers have been shortlisted by the Vernon Building Society to share a £10,000 pot with 14 other volunteer organisations from the area. To receive the funding, they need for people to vote for them. Votes can be placed using the following link www.thevernon.co.uk/vote and closes on the 30th September. The funding enables the volunteers to keep their own response vehicle on the road, and are also looking to purchase further additional medical equipment including a Lifepak defibrillator, as the team grows.
