Local businesses in Poynton took the opportunity to celebrate their successes during the previous year, at Poynton Town Council’s Poynton Achievements in Customer Excellence (PACE) Awards, at Davenport Golf Club.

The awards were presented this year by local MP, David Rutley and Cllr Rebecca Horsman-Johnson, Mayor of Poynton. The Business of the Year award went to Serisabelle Holistic and Beauty Therapy, on Park Lane, which also won the Service Providers category, while the Employee of the Year award was given to Sue Watkins, from the brain injury charity, Headway.

The PACE Awards are now into their third year and are the only Poynton specific business awards, and the only awards where customers vote for their favourite businesses and members of staff. The award categories cover all Poynton businesses, from shops and restaurants, to professional and business services, meaning that they are relevant to both business users and shoppers.

The awards aim to promote the fantastic service available from Poynton’s businesses, as well as supporting the village’s economy. Local businesses have also benefitted from the creation of Poynton in Business, in 2013, which works hard to promote trade between local businesses, encourage local residents to “shop local”, promote the visitor economy, and advertise Poynton as a great place to do business.

Speaking after the awards presentation, David said, “It was a pleasure to be able to help present the awards this year, which demonstrate how much passion and innovation there is in Poynton’s business community. I would like to congratulate all who were nominated for awards this year and the winners. I look forward to continuing to work closely with Poynton in Business in the year ahead.”
