The Poynton Summerfest is back this summer, and promises to be a fun-filled day out for residents and visitors alike. This popular community event, now in its eighth year, takes place from 11:30am to 4:30pm on Sunday 14th July on the Mount Vernon playing field below the canal and on the Middlewood Way, opposite The Boars Head pub on Shrigley Road North. This year’s Fest will feature live entertainment including the Poynton Youth Brass Band, the Downfall Band and, for the first time, a samba band. Another first will be a climbing wall on the Middlewood Way.

Fest goers can enjoy two bird of prey flying displays, now a firm fixture, an entertaining dog show and pony rides. In addition there will be the usual extensive children’s play area featuring rides and giant inflatables, plus a variety of fresh food vendors and market stalls selling a wide variety of quality products with a mainly rural theme. Charity stalls can be found on the Middlewood Way, which will also serve as a picnic area and quiet zone.

Entrance to the Summerfest is free. Car parking is available on Mount Vernon Field for £3.00 per vehicle, with the revenue raised helping to ensure future Fests. As always the Summerfest volunteers would like to thank Poynton Town Council for their continued support. With a whole host of things for all the family to see, do and enjoy, it is an event not to be missed!
