The cast iron metal plate that was attached to the damaged milestone has now been taken away for refurbishment. It has been sand blasted and powder coated to protect it for hopefully another 150 years. A new stone is being cut at a local quarry, which will broadly match the previous design and the refurbished metal plate will then be re-attached and installed in the late Summer.
