The Town Council would like to congratulate the recipients of the 2018 Certificates of Civic Service and the Certificates of Youth Civic Service, which were presented by the Town Mayor, Cllr Mrs Sarah-Jane Gilmore, at the civic reception on Sunday 15th July.  This followed the civic service held at St George’s church. One person will be presented with their award on a future occasion.

The well deserved awards were presented in recognition of a sustained and significant contribution to the community to:

Judy Bartlett and Mark Callow, for their volunteer leadership work with the 3rd Poynton cub pack.

Kevin Booth, for his hard work and encouragement with Poynton Runners.

Brian Clarke, for caring for the grounds of Poynton Churchyard and for those who visit it.

Doreen Harper, for her long standing dedication to organising events for swimmers with disabilities over 40 years.

Jacob Howard, for helping to keep Poynton Churchyard immaculate and appealing for all who visit it.

Ann Roberts, for volunteering, supporting and fundraising for many good causes over 40 years. These include Oxfam, Debra, RNLI and Woodside Ladies Badminton Club.

Glastonbury Drive Play Area Committee, for their role in fundraising and transforming a new play area for local children.

Poynton Men in Sheds, for their fantastic work helping members of the community find friendship. And for their support with community building projects within the local area.

The Youth Civic Awards were given in recognition of having shown leadership, initiative, enthusiasm and commitment to a worthwhile cause, of benefit to their peer group and/ or the wider community, to:

Effie Cawley and Katherine Hickson, for their volunteer leadership work with the 2nd Poynton Rainbow unit.

Rebecca Pinkerton and Millie Waller, for their volunteer leadership, refereeing and coaching work with the Richmond Rovers Junior Football Club.
