In a recent letter to residents, Cheshire East Highways stated..

“We have been delayed in progressing with the design and construction of the retaining wall due to the exposed water trunk main in the area of collapse. We have been advised by  United Utilities, the asset owner, that it is not safe to work near the exposed main in its current state and so we are currently waiting for the main to be diverted before we can recommence on site. As such we cannot currently give an exact timescale for the full repair but will keep you updated as more details become available.”

In more recent developments, United Utilities contractors have been to site but heavy rain and waterlogged ground conditions have made it difficult to determine a way forward. A couple of options are being explored including laying a brand new main.
