Local charity praises dedicated volunteer’s supporting Poynton families during pandemic

Local charity, Home Start Cheshire today gave praise to it’s dedicated team of Family Mentor volunteers and staff for continuing to care for local families during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The charity, like many services, has had to re-think how it can continue it’s vital work whilst lock down prevents the usual face-to-face support it offers. But with the aid of modern technology families have received nearly 300 phone calls, texts, emails and video chats in the last 3-weeks alone and the charity says it won’t stop being there for the families who need them.

Home Start Cheshire CEO Sarah Jones said “we are so proud of our team who are working tirelessly to ensure families of young children do not feel alone during the pandemic. We will continue to support our families as best we can and look for new ways to reach out and support them”.

Families have also been singing the charity’s praises. One mum said “thank you for being amazing and there one way or another no matter what, it means the world” Whilst another parent said “I can’t believe it! You’re so helpful I could cry! Thank you so much!” and another added “Thank you for ringing me. I’ve felt trapped in the house but you’ve made my day!”.

Home-Start offers support to families experiencing difficulties, helping to prevent family crisis and breakdown through regular weekly visits by our trained and supported Family Mentor volunteers and staff. We have been supporting local families for the last 20 years. With over 80 Family Mentor volunteers across Cheshire the charity supports hundreds of families every year.
