Local businessman selected to judge prestigious national awards

A local businessman has been selected to be a judge in a prestigious industry award, culminating in an awards ceremony at the House of Lords.

Andrew Galloway, Managing Director of leading Manchester printers Galloways, was invited to join the judging panel for the Print Futures Awards, The Printing Charity’s flagship awards programme. The awards assist young people to develop their workplace skills in the UK printing, paper, packaging, publishing, and graphic arts sector by providing financial grants of up to £1,500 to help fund training, equipment or post education internships.

Applicants shortlisted from this year’s 248 applications were given the opportunity to present to a panel of high-profile industry judges how an award would help them develop their skills, with a record 93 being granted an award. 2019 marks ten years of the Print Futures Awards, building on a previous scheme set up in 2003 and is now the largest single awards scheme for people aged 18 to 30 years in the sector.

For the first time, the judging process went to Leeds in addition to London, where Andrew Galloway met the applicants, demonstrating the number of applications from the north. The winners celebrated their success at a reception at the House of Lords, where they were presented with their awards.
