Poynton pair Tommy and Pauline Johnstone scored an historic hat trick when they won the Mr and Mrs Bowls Tournament at Poynton Sports Club (on Sept 3) for the third time.
Crown green bowlers from throughout the north-west descended on Poynton Sports Club for this popular annual event where married couples test their prowess.
While Tommy and Pauline (pictured) went off to celebrate the losing finalists, Paul and Rhona Mason went home to discuss why they had been beaten in the final three times. They had fallen 21-12 in this year’s final. Rhona and Paul also play for Poynton Sports Club.
Losing semi-finalists were Brian and Irene Costello of Stockport Cricket Club bowls team and Chris and Anita Talbot of Bollington Bowls Club.
