Easter Monday saw the traditional Annual Captains’ Drive In, with Captain Peter Fidler, Lady Captain, Di Illingworth and Junior Captain Bradley Cooke driving off the fourteenth tee at Davenport Golf Club to symbolise the start of the 2017 season.
Members bought sticks from the Professional’s shop and placed them anywhere they thought each Captain’s ball would finish, from which £220 was raised towards this year’s Charity, Headway. As to where the balls finished up, well, let’s say, Pete’s was the most entertaining!
Thanks to all the members who supported the day and to the greens staff for presenting the course in such excellent condition and also to the catering and bar staff for their hard work and help throughout the whole day.
New social and playing memberships are available to Poynton residents of all ages who are interested. There’s an open invitation for readers to come and have a look at their LOCAL Golf Club where a warm welcome is guaranteed.
