On Saturday 25th November, children, families and staff from Lostock Hall Primary School were invited to join in the Co-op’s Celebration Day in their store on School Lane in Poynton as they were awarded £2,498 to create a sensory garden in the grounds.

Co-op members have raised £20m over the last year for 8,000 communities across the UK and the money Lostock Hall Primary School will receive will be put to good use. They plan to transform a bare, muddy area of the playground that isn’t used at the moment to create a sensory area where the children can get away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of playground if they like.

The team at Lostock Hall Primary are planning to keep the money in the local community and will be working with the Poynton Men in Sheds group and Woodford Garden Centre to complete this development ready for the spring.

The children were in store to help sell confectionary cones that they’d put together from sweets donated by Co-op to help raise more funds and say thank you to staff and customers.
