The Town Council would like to congratulate the recipients of the 2019 Certificates of Civic   Service and the Certificates of Youth Civic Service which were presented by the Town Mayor, Cllr Mrs Sarah-Jane Gilmore, at the civic reception on Sunday 21st July 2019.  This followed the Civic Service held at St George’s Church.  Two people will be presented with their award on a future occasion. 

The Civic Service Awards were presented in recognition of a sustained and significant contribution to the community to:

Elaine Bailey, for her tireless support of our veterans, her work with the Poppy Appeal and fundraising at the Royal British Legion.

Andrew Barnes, for his volunteer work as an Enhanced Community First Aid Responder, as a governor to Lostock Hall School, fundraising and organising the annual Beer Festival and helping Santa and the Round Table at Christmas.

Poynton Golden Memories – Edith Clarke, Judy Hatton and Gerald Scriven, for their fantastic work spearheading the group and their contribution to Poynton’s status as a Dementia Friendly Community.

Di Penny, for her hard work fundraising and leading a team to transform the Heritage Garden. 

Robert Sabin, for his hard work and being an integral part of the team who helped shape the Poynton Neighbourhood Plan.

Liz Wade, for her volunteer work for the Poynton Christmas Fest, the Poynton Show and Just Drop In.

Marjorie Wadsworth, for her work and dedication over the past 50 years with Poynton Players.

The Youth Civic Awards were given in recognition of having shown leadership, initiative, enthusiasm and commitment to a worthwhile cause, of benefit to their peer group and/or the wider community to:

Emilia Bell, Myer Holt, Amy Jervis and Peri Baytan for their volunteer work helping at 1st Poynton Rainbows over the past 2 years.

Reece Nolan and Alex Archer, for their volunteer coaching of young swimmers at Poynton Dippers over the past 4 years. Rebecca Taylor,  Lauren Kerins, Phoebe Kelly Cooper and Emily Wolffsohn, for their volunteer work helping at 11th Poynton Brownies over the past 2 years.
