The Labour and Independent coalition administration at Cheshire East has recently announced plans to end gritting on many local roads. The roads where gritting may be stopped include Clifford Road and Shrigley Road South in Poynton, Skellorn Green Lane and Roundy Lane in Adlington and most of Shrigley Road in Pott Shrigley. Some of these roads are in built-up areas, while others include steep slopes or are near schools. All these routes are well used by local people. These changes are proposed to take effect for the winter of 2020/21.
Poynton’s Conservative Councillors are working with their colleagues on Cheshire East to defend road safety and retain gritting on all these local roads.
