Friday 13th is supposed to be unlucky for some, but for Poynton Workmens  and Manfords Comedy Club, it turned out to be a very lucky date!

Manfords Comedy Club hosts a regular monthly event at the Workies, so the big boss himself, Jason Manford, decided to pop down to Poynton to take a look for himself, and ended up performing for nearly an hour to a room that was packed to the rafters.

It was the hottest ticket in town that night and the Workies fell in love with Jason, and didn’t want him to leave!

MC for the night was Jason’s brother Colin Manford, who the audience also fell in love with, as he took to the stage with his warm and earthy  humour, with a few sprinkles of “blue” stories thrown in along the way.

Mike Newall and George Lewis kept the heat and laughter rising through the show.

We spoke to two of the Manfords team behind the event Lyndsey Holt and Debi Leach who were there on the night and they had this to say.

“We absolutely adore the Workies. It has the perfect room for comedy, great fun-loving audiences and really friendly and helpful staff. It is planning a refurbishment over the Summer, so we are going to have our own launch party in October to mark the event, with another surprise guest!

Many local businesses in Poynton have been a wonderful support in helping us to get the shows off the ground this year, in particular, Jill from the Poynton Post.”

So, if you haven’t paid a visit yet, don’t miss out on these hilarious shows, it’s the perfect way to get you in the mood for the weekend!

For just £12.50 you get 4 comedians from the UK comedy scene, personally selected by Jason Manford.

Information about all future shows, including the next date on Friday 10th June, can be found at www.manfordscomedyclubs.com

So don’t be shy! Come on down and give it a try!

You will be sure of a cracking night out, lots of Northern humour and a very warm welcome from the Manfords team!
