A reminder to all Poynton residents, visitors, local societies, and voluntary organisations that this year’s Remembrance Day Parade and Service is on Sunday 14th November.

The parade, accompanied by the Vernon Building Society Poynton Brass Band, will leave the Civic Centre car park at 9.35am sharp, followed by the service at 10am and the Act of Remembrance at 11am at St George’s Church. As is customary, wreaths and poppies will be placed on and around the war memorial after the service.

Anyone serving in the armed forces with a Poynton connection who is home on leave is invited to join the parade in the ranks of the British Legion, in or out of uniform. If you would like the name of a serving or retired member of the armed forces to be included in the church service or for any queries, please speak to the Town Clerk on 01625 872238, or call in at the Civic Hall.

Please note that the roads will be closed to traffic to allow the parade along Park Lane, across Fountain Place to St George’s Church. This will be approx 9.40am, 11am for the Act of Remembrance and to return at approx 11.15am.

Staying safe at Remembrance Sunday

We kindly ask those who plan to attend the service, parade or wreath laying in Poynton to take a lateral flow test on the

morning of the event and not attend if you have a positive result, have any symptoms of Covid-19 or are feeling unwell.

This will help protect our community and help to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
