Year 9 students at Poynton High School have been very busy throughout December making Christmas cards for the local community. Miss Long, form tutor of 9RL came up with the idea and asked the students to take part – all agreed without hesitation! Working with Sharon Duke, Poynton Town Council Communities Co-ordinator and Gary, Louise and Paul from the Council’s Community Support Team, the cards were distributed to local residents in Poynton.

Harvey 9RL said ‘I have had a great time making decorative Christmas cards for the elderly.’ George 9RL said ‘I have really enjoyed making the Christmas cards. It was really nice to make these for the elderly residents of Poynton and I hope they enjoy them as much as we enjoyed making them.’

Miss Long says ‘I am very proud of the students who were so eager to extend the festive cheer to elderly residents who perhaps don’t have friends and family close by, at a time when families come together. This was just one little act of random kindness which I hope brings a smile to the people who get the cards.’
