A reminder to all Poynton residents, visitors, local societies, voluntary and uniformed organisations that this year’s Remembrance Day Parade and Service is on Sunday 13th November. The parade, led as usual by the Vernon Building Society Poynton Brass Band, will leave the Civic Centre Car Park alongside Waitrose at 9.35am sharp, followed by the service and Act of Remembrance at St George’s Church, starting at 10am.

As is customary, wreaths and poppies will be placed on and around the war memorial immediately following the church service. Attending the service again this year will be Sir Nicholas Winterton DL, representing the Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire. As ever there is bound to be a really good turn out, and everyone is very welcome to come attend what is always a very dignified, moving and special occasion.

Afterwards the British Legion is kindly offering refreshments at its Club House on George’s Road West. For all colour and wreath bearers there will be a rehearsal at St George’s Church from 7pm to 8pm on Wednesday 9th November. For any queries, please contact the Town Clerk on 01625 872238, or call in at the Civic Hall.
