Poynton Golden Memories dementia support group are back together after over a year of being apart.

Members were finally able to get together as a large group again when the Covid restrictions were lifted, celebrating with a fantastic party at Poynton Civic Hall.

Get-togethers will now be held regularly, incorporating music, singing, dancing, light exercise and games or crafts. Lunch is at 1pm and the fun continues afterwards with bingo and prizes, for a total of four hours.

Co-Founder Judy Hatton says: “Poynton Golden Memories is a friendly, supportive group that meets to share the journey of dementia. There’s a real spirit of support and a close bond in our shared experiences.”

A fundraising drive by local dementia care business Ambiance Care raised £150 to purchase 15 coffee tables for the group’s relaunch party – they’ll be used at upcoming meets, too.

Ambiance Care Founder Diane commented: “Having been a dementia carer myself, I understand how challenging it can be to care for someone living with dementia.

“The Golden Memories group provides an opportunity to connect with others in the same situation, share experiences and enjoy fun and friendship at the same time.”
