As part of National Allotments’ week, the Allotmenteers were delighted to invite Poynton’s Mayor to join them for a BBQ, wonderful cakes and a few drinks at their harvest social. Over 20 Allotmenteers and their families shared their successes (and growing failures) and started to look forward to next season.

One of the group gave the Mayor and her consort a guided tour of his amazing allotment and she was rewarded with a handful of freshly picked carrots.

Soon the Allotmenteers  hope to improve their social facilities and storage. They have a cheap seed scheme run through the national association. They also have a small community plot which is available for local community groups, scouts, guides, etc to practice their growing skills. So do let them  know via the Civic Centre if you’d like to use some of the plot.

At the moment, there is a small waiting list for allotments but you can be assured of a warm welcome from the Allotmenteers.
